Client Requirements

The warehouse facility required a comprehensive refurbishment to prepare it for a new occupier. Zenith Refitment undertook the concrete infill to redundant inspection pits and Zenith Flooring services were tasked with transforming the worn and uneven flooring into a durable, appealing, and functional surface capable of withstanding forklift traffic.

Work Overview & Solutions

Zenith approached the project with a thorough site evaluation to determine the optimal flooring solution. The chosen specification was an industrial grade pumped screed with epoxy resin coatings for added durability and aesthetics. One of the benefits of the specification of a pump applied screed is the speed of application, the installation to 420 sqm was carried out in one morning.

Key steps included:

Surface Preparation: The existing floor was shot blasted and ground to remove imperfections and ensure proper adhesion. Repairs were made using a resin mortar.

Priming and Keying: The floor was primed with 2 no, coats of Vebro DPM Primer followed by a full quartz aggregate blind into the second coat to create a strong mechanical key.

Screeding and Coating: The industrial-grade screed was applied at a nominal 10mm thickness, cured, and finished with layers of Epocoat WD and Epocoat High Build for a hardwearing, high-quality finish.

Challenges Overcome

The existing floor condition presented significant challenges, requiring extensive preparation and repair work to meet the client’s high standards. Despite the tight timeframe, the team successfully delivered the project within one week.

Outcome

The refurbished warehouse floor now boasts a flat, durable surface capable of supporting heavy forklift traffic. The epoxy resin coatings provide a professional finish, aligning with the client’s requirements and enhancing the appeal of the facility for its new occupier.
