Project Description

In a bustling manufacturing facility with extensive forklift truck activity, pedestrian safety is paramount. When Zenith Contract Services was tasked with enhancing safety measures, our resin flooring division rose to the challenge by providing a solution that was practical, visually appealing, and clearly visible.

Understanding the importance of clear and defined pedestrian pathways, we advised the client on using a recognised colour combination: solid green gangways edged with crisp safety yellow lines. This combination is known for its high visibility and effectiveness in delineating safe walking routes within busy industrial environments.

The project began with thorough preparation of the subfloor to ensure optimal adhesion of the new coating. Our team selected KDR Epocote, a high-build epoxy resin coating renowned for its durability and excellent coverage. Applying the epoxy with lambswool rollers, we ensured a smooth and even finish across the entire walkway area.

After allowing the epoxy to cure overnight, our team moved on to the precise task of marking out and masking the walkways. This step was crucial to achieve the sharp, clean lines needed for the safety yellow edging. Once the masking was in place, we carefully applied the safety yellow epoxy, creating a vivid contrast with the solid green gangway.

The result was a clearly defined pedestrian route that stands out against the mid-grey backdrop of the manufacturing and storage areas. This new walkway not only provides a safe passage for pedestrian traffic but also serves as a clear no-go zone for any wheeled traffic, significantly reducing the risk of accidents.

In addition to its functional benefits, the colour combination adds an aesthetically pleasing element to the facility. The crisp lines and vibrant colours enhance the overall look of the space, demonstrating that safety measures can be seamlessly integrated into the workplace environment.
