Project Description
A major large turbine refurbishment facility in the Midlands required a heavy duty flooring solution for its workshop and stores areas, with work to be carried out in phases during normal working hours.
Working in close coordination with the client, Zenith’s operatives ensured the work was undertaken in planned phases and completed on time and to budget, with minimum disruption to the facility.
The job called for the removal of existing floor coatings and surface contamination, to provide a clean, textured surface with good mechanical key. Zenith achieved this with the use of orbital diamond grinding equipment, using both handheld and upright machines. Minor repairs were also carried out using an epoxy resin mortar, trowelled in to match the existing profiles.
The tough finish was achieved by first applying one coat of an oil tolerant primer, followed by two coats of a high build epoxy resin coating, in colours agreed with the client, to form demarcation lines and zebra crossings.
The result is a strong, durable industrial flooring that looks fresh and clean. Thanks to the advanced materials and installation methods used, it has the capability to withstand many years of heavy, industrial usage and still maintain its appearance.
