Client Requirements

Amtico Flooring, a prominent name in the manufacturing industry, required a comprehensive deep clean of their Coventry facility. Over time, a significant build-up of dust had accumulated - some of which was potentially hazardous due to the unknown nature of the materials involved. The client was particularly concerned about the health and safety implications for staff, especially in hard-to-access high-level areas around plant equipment and structural steels.

Project Challenges

The cleaning project presented two main challenges:

1. Inaccessibility – The design and layout of structural steelwork and pipework made several areas extremely difficult to reach.

2. Unknown Dust Composition – The lack of cleaning history meant the dust could potentially contain hazardous particles requiring specialist handling and testing.

Solution Provided

Zenith Contract Services developed a methodical and safety-focused approach, using a combination of specialist access equipment and long-reach cleaning tools, including cherry pickers, to safely reach high-level surfaces.

All accessible structural steels, pipework, wall panels, ledges, and fixtures were thoroughly vacuumed to remove dust without disturbing operations.

Full PPE was worn throughout to protect operatives from potential hazards.

Dust samples were taken and submitted for laboratory analysis to ensure appropriate waste disposal methods were followed.

To minimise disruption to Amtico’s production schedule, the work was completed over two weekends, ensuring both operational efficiency and workplace safety.

Outcome

The project was successfully completed within the scheduled timeframe, with all areas cleaned to a high standard. The client was reassured by the safe and professional handling of the work, and the environment was left cleaner and safer for employees.
