Project Description

Zenith’s Specialist Cleaning Division required a complete refurbishment of their ground floor offices that saw Zenith’s Flooring team working alongside the Refurbishment team to deliver a complete solution.

As an Operations office, a floor was required that was aesthetically pleasing on the eye and easy to clean. Consequently, the Flooring team’s resin specialists asked Vebro Polymers to create a custom blend flake that could be applied into wet resin, to produce an attractive decorative flake system that incorporated Zenith’s corporate colours of black, white and orange.

Initially, the Flooring team removed the existing floor, revealing the concrete subfloor, which was repaired and prepared, applying one coat of Vebro oil tolerant primer on the first day. On the second day, the team applied a base coast of Epicoat high build epoxy resin in black. This colour was chosen as it reflects one of the dominant colours in the blend of P.V.A. flake selected.

While the base coat was still wet, the P.V.A. flake was cast onto the floor like confetti, applied in excess to ensure complete coverage, and allowed to cure overnight. The third day saw the team sweeping off the excess flake and lightly grounding the floor to leave a slightly textured surface. This was then coated in two coats of Polyrapide UVR clear seal.

This system was chosen as being ideal for a busy office, as it is more than adequate for foot traffic, easy to clean and aesthetically pleasing on the eye. The resulting floor has completely transformed the new office area, with Zenith’s Property Refurbishment Division stepping in to carry out work on the office structure, including the installation of a suspended ceiling, electrics and lighting; redecoration; and furnishings.

Everything was completed ready for occupation in early June, aptly demonstrating the versatility of our specialist teams and the capability of Zenith’s different divisions working together. Zenith’s Cleaning Division has now moved in and is delighted with the refurbishment, which has transformed their tired, dated offices into a fresh, clean, contemporary space.
