Canopy Glass & Steelwork Restoration at Kingfisher Shopping Centre
- Client: Millvale Building Services
- Location: Kingfisher Shopping Centre
- Industry Type: Retail / Shopping Centre
- Project Value: £2,275.00
- Project Duration: 3 Days
Project Overview
Our commercial cleaning team was appointed by Millvale Building Services to carry out the cleaning and restoration of canopy glass and supporting steelwork at the Kingfisher Shopping Centre. The brief was to remove built-up dirt, algae, and traffic film that had accumulated over time, improving both the transparency of the glass and the overall appearance of the building frontage.
Client Requirements
Due to the nature of the site, the work required high-level access over busy pedestrian areas. The steel structure included several tight angles and horizontal sections that had collected dirt and organic growth, while the glass panels exhibited water staining and weathering. Safety and minimal disruption to the public were critical throughout the project.
Our Solution
Using specialist MEWPs (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms), our operatives carried out the cleaning safely and efficiently at height. Glass-safe detergents were applied to the canopy panels to restore clarity and transparency, while a mild cleaning solution was used on the steelwork to remove surface contaminants without damaging the finish.
The cleaning process left both the glass and steel streak-free, enhancing natural light beneath the canopy and revitalising the building’s entrance area.
Project Challenges
Weather conditions were carefully monitored throughout the project to ensure safe working at height. The team adapted to changing conditions and maintained full compliance with health and safety protocols to deliver the works within the planned timeframe.
Outcome
The completed project significantly improved the visual appeal of the shopping centre, creating a brighter and more inviting environment for visitors and staff alike. The client was highly satisfied with the results, noting the professional finish and minimal disruption achieved during the works.
