Zenith staff take part in Dulux Trade Ride Revolution

Two members of Zenith’s staff, Richard and Nivette Chester, have taken part in this year’s Dulux Trade Ride Revolution. The largest, multi-day sportive in the UK, the event is a 187 mile, 360˚ around London bike ride that loops round the capital over two days.

Given the huge increase in cycling in the last ten years, the Dulux Trade Ride Revolution aims to get more people exercising and making the most of the great British outdoors. With quality cycling available just a short distance from the capital, the route explores some of London’s most scenic and iconic landscapes, taking participants on a tour of the city’s world-famous historical landmarks.

The event commenced at Lee Valley Sports Club near Enfield and a stones throw from a recent major contract undertaken for Bidvest Foodservice at the back end of last year. This was useful for Richard as ‘the car already knew it’s way there’.

Heading into London and over Tower Bridge, over 2000 riders continued South through Dulwich and Crystal Palace, over the M25 before heading West pass Gatwick and Guildford to reach the overnight stop at Ascot Racecourse. There food supplies, a party atmosphere and a huge number of tents awaited the riders before the ride continued North.

The second day took in the Chiltens into Princes Risborough before turning West past Kings Langley and St Albans before returning to the previous days start.

With nearly 15 hours in the saddle, this is a testing event for most cyclists.

As much about community as competition, the event offers pit stops along the route, chaperones, medical support and a halfway basecamp providing hot food, showers and yoga classes. The overnight basecamp is at the heart of the experience, enabling participants to get to know one another and celebrate together.

Zenith is delighted that two members of staff, Richard and Nivette Chester, chose to participate in the 2016 event, as a demonstration of their community spirit and fitness, both important qualities in Zenith’s ‘can do’ approach to work.
