Zenith Staff Complete Emergency First Aid at Work Training
Yesterday, seven members of the Zenith Contract Services team successfully completed Emergency First Aid at Work training, with staff from across all divisions taking part. For some, this was a refresher course, while for others, it marked the first time undertaking formal First Aid training.
The course is designed to provide essential skills and confidence to respond effectively in an emergency, covering a wide range of workplace scenarios including shock, bleeding, and treating unconscious patients. Through practical, hands-on training, our team gained valuable experience in dealing with real-life situations.
One of the highlights of the day was the chance to resuscitate “John” the training manikin, practising CPR alongside the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). With cardiac arrest being the third-leading cause of death in the industrialised world, this training is vital. Each minute without treatment reduces a person’s chance of survival by 10%, while delivering CPR and defibrillation within 3–5 minutes can increase survival rates to as high as 74%.
Following the course, we registered our office AED on The Circuit – the national defibrillator network. This ensures our equipment is visible to NHS ambulance services and available not only to our staff, but also to our neighbours and the wider local community in times of need. It’s one small way we can extend our commitment to safety beyond our own workplace.
As well as equipping our team with life-saving knowledge, the training helps Zenith meet HSE requirements by ensuring we have qualified first aiders on-site at all times. More importantly, it provides our people with the confidence to make a difference when it matters most.
We’d like to thank TutorCare for delivering such a practical and engaging course, and congratulate our colleagues for taking the time to invest in these vital skills.
