Washroom Refurbishment – Graphic Arts Group, Coventry

Client Requirements

Graphic Arts Group, a Coventry-based printing company, required the complete refurbishment of its existing male and female WC facilities within a live building environment.

The objective was to create modern, hygienic, and durable washroom spaces that would enhance user experience while meeting current standards for safety, functionality, and ease of maintenance. The works needed to be carefully managed to minimise disruption to the building’s day-to-day operations.

Zenith delivered a fully coordinated refurbishment programme, transforming outdated facilities into contemporary, high-quality washrooms with close attention to detail throughout.

Overview of Works

All water and electrical services were safely isolated prior to a full strip-out of the existing washroom facilities. This included the removal of suspended ceilings, cubicles, vanity units, sanitaryware, flooring, mirrors, and associated fittings.

Enabling works were undertaken to adapt existing pipework and electrical services to suit the new layout requirements.

Existing walls were overboarded using 12.5 mm taper-edged plasterboard, mechanically fixed to ensure long-term durability.

Hygienic wall cladding was installed to a height of 1200 mm above finished floor level, providing a robust and easy-to-clean surface suitable for washroom environments. Exposed plasterboard above the cladding was taped and filled to achieve a smooth, high-quality decorative finish.

New suspended ceilings were installed throughout using a 15mm grid system with tegular-edged mineral fibre tiles. This provided a bright, professional appearance while maintaining future access for maintenance.

Slip-resistant sheet vinyl flooring was installed with a coved skirting detail to enhance both safety and hygiene. The flooring was extended seamlessly into the WC lobby areas to ensure a consistent and cohesive finish.

Outcome

The completed refurbishment delivered bright, modern, and hygienic washroom facilities that significantly improved the overall appearance and usability of the spaces.

Durable finishes, energy-efficient lighting, and upgraded heating systems ensure the facilities are cost-effective to operate and easy to maintain over the long term.
