Safety Markings for Leading Car Parts Manufacturer

  • Client: Leading Midlands car parts manufacturer
  • Project: Installation of safety markings adjacent to inspection pit
  • Project Value:£3,000
  • Area Coverage: 80 linear metres
  • Completion: February 2026
  • Project Duration: One weekend

Client Requirements

A leading Midlands car parts manufacturer identified a potential safety risk adjacent to conveyor belt covers that can be removed to allow maintenance access to an inspection pit.

Although the existing steel plates were fully compliant with structural standards, the surrounding edges lacked high-visibility markings. In a busy production environment, this increased the risk of trips and falls when covers were removed or repositioned.

The client required a durable, highly visible solution that would clearly define the hazard area without disrupting ongoing operations.

Overview of Works

Following an initial assessment, Zenith Contract Services prepared the existing substrate using orbital grinding to ensure a clean, properly profiled surface for coating adhesion.

A 100mm wide diagonal stripe pattern was carefully measured and marked out before being fully masked to ensure precise alignment and crisp definition. A high-build epoxy resin coating was then applied in two coats using safety-compliant yellow and black.

The system was selected for its durability, visibility, and long-term resistance to wear within a heavy-use manufacturing environment. Works were completed over a single weekend to avoid disruption to production.

Outcome

The completed installation provides clear visual hazard distinction adjacent to the inspection pit and maintenance access covers. The high-visibility markings significantly improve on-site safety awareness while maintaining a clean and professional finish.

Through correct preparation, durable materials, and precise application, the facility has enhanced workplace safety with minimal operational impact.

This project demonstrates how effective visual hazard communication can play a critical role in preventing workplace injuries in industrial environments.
