Major Cold Storage Floor Reinstatement for Food Park
- Client: Midland Food Park
- Project: Major floor reinstatement to falls Project Value: £27,000
- Area Coverage: 100 sq m
- Completion: January 2026
- Project Duration: One week per area
Client Requirements
A leading Midlands-based food park required renovation works to its cold storage areas to improve drainage and maintain compliance with food industry standards.
The existing floors needed to be reconfigured to form accurate falls directing water to stainless steel drainage points, while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
Overview of Works
The Zenith Contract Services flooring division produced a detailed specification and phased works programme tailored to the client’s operational requirements.
Following perimeter saw cutting, the existing floor was broken out to a depth of approximately 75mm to form rebated areas. A new cementitious screed was then installed to create consistent falls of 1:100 towards the central stainless steel drains.
The final finish comprised a 6mm polyurethane screed, selected for its durability, hygiene performance, and suitability for cold storage environments.
Expansion joints were installed adjacent to the drains to accommodate movement and ensure long-term floor integrity.
Outcome
The completed works delivered a seamless, durable floor finish that blended with the surrounding areas. Drainage performance was significantly improved, providing a hygienic, compliant solution with minimal impact on the client’s operations.
