- Project: Jockeys’ Restroom Balcony Refurbishment
- Project Value: £12,800

- Area Coverage: 50m²
- Commencement: May 2025
- Project Duration: 5 Days
Client Requirements
Worcester Racecourse required urgent remedial work to the balcony floor of the jockeys’ restroom, following the failure of the existing screed. The brief called for a durable, slip-resistant solution that would correct drainage issues while enhancing the safety and appearance of the external balcony.
Our Solution
Zenith began by breaking out the existing system to reveal the underlying marine plywood subfloor. This was then sanded, double primed, and reinforced with Promesh fibreglass scrim to accommodate any potential movement and maintain long-term integrity.
Once cured, the team applied the KDR Deckfast SL system at an approximate 3mm thickness, followed by a full quartz aggregate blind to create a textured, anti-slip surface. Finally, a KDR Deckfast Topcoat in grey was applied, providing both protection and a visually cohesive finish.
The works also incorporated a slight fall to drainage points, ensuring effective water runoff and helping to prevent future deterioration.
Outcome
The newly refurbished balcony delivers a safe, slip-resistant surface ideal for an outdoor environment frequently used by jockeys and racecourse personnel. Completed in just five days, the project showcases Zenith’s ability to deliver efficient, technically sound solutions with minimal disruption.
Another successful refurbishment by Zenith Contract Services, combining performance, aesthetics, and long-term durability for a prestigious venue.
