Zenith Refurbishes School in Atherstone

Zenith Refitment Services has won a major contract to carry out the internal and external refurbishment of The New Focus Atherstone Campus which was the former site of the The Queen Elizabeth Secondary School in Atherstone North Warwickshire.

The contract has been awarded to Zenith Refitment Services by the Copsewood Educational Trust who own the site and this will include external re-decoration of the adjoining 3-storey, Grade 3 listed Schoolhouse building.

Zenith have previously worked well with the Copsewood Educational Trust and this was a strong factor in their selection for this particular project as it was imperative to complete the work to the highest standards required within a very short timeframe. The tight deadline has seen Zenith substantially increase their workforce to meet the demand and this also required a good working relationship alongside a host of other appointed contractors to ensure completion on time ready for the school term beginning in September 2016

A full range of Zenith’s expertise was needed which included Minor Works design and build for classrooms, washrooms and communal areas and general repairs for glazing, carpentry, new resin flooring for shower and change rooms, all internal and external painting and decorating. One of the greatest challenges was to restore the original look of the school buildings which included essential timber repairs and re-painting of the rooftop bell tower accessed by bespoke scaffolding along with more general repairs for render and plastering and replacement glazing to the old metal casement windows. For the School’s Gymnasium walls this required a tough durable paint product so Johnstone’s PPG Technical Services department recommended to use their anti-graffiti product which has very good mark - resistant and washable properties.

With the project now nearing completion, Zenith looks set to hand over the job within deadline, demonstrating once again the team’s professionalism and ‘can do’ attitude to deliver the highest standards of workmanship on time within budget. Thanks to their multi-disciplinary qualities, the team has been able to work speedily and effectively to the client’s full satisfaction.
