Spotlight On Sue - 33 Years of Service!

Sue has been a working in the Resin Flooring Industry for over 33 years, beginning her career with Pola Flooring Services Ltd in 1991. When Pola was acquired by Zenith in 2010, Sue made the transition and has been a key part of the team ever since.

Sue's Role and Journey at Zenith
Starting with admin duties in the Flooring Department, Sue quickly proved her value. She helped set up management systems for the group and updated Health and Safety protocols. Her role has since evolved to include overseeing all admin duties for the Flooring Division, managing material orders and invoicing, and ensuring certifications with Constructionline and Safe Contractor. She is also the company’s Quality and Environmental Management Representative, providing advice on all aspects of Health and Safety.

Personal Achievements
Sue's list of personal achievements is impressive. She is proud of raising her children to be strong, independent, and caring adults while continuing to work and care for her husband, who has Mixed Dementia. She has also earned a NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and an A1 Assessors Award.

Aspirations and Interests
Though it's hard for her to pinpoint, Sue has always thought about trying skiing. She also enjoys watching sports, particularly at Edgbaston for the Hundred Cricket, and is a passionate fan of Coventry City FC. She loves socialising, travelling, reading, and even plays darts at her local pub.

Advice for Newcomers at Zenith
Sue advises, “Learn the company procedures, be ready to multitask, be approachable, and have empathy for your colleagues. And if you're ever unsure, just ask!”

Career Lessons
Sue has learned the value of listening, having strong interpersonal skills, showing empathy, and being patient. She highlights that the most significant challenge has been adapting to new technology and software over the years.

Successes and Challenges
Sue has played a pivotal role in gaining accreditations for the company, including ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015. “The biggest challenge has been adapting to new technologies and different personalities,” she notes.

Favourite Memories at Zenith
Sue fondly remembers the Christmas parties, a great occasion for the Zenith team to celebrate the years achievements together.

Future Plans
When asked where she sees herself in five years, Sue’s answer is simple: “Retired.”

Sue’s journey at Zenith Contract Services is a testament to her dedication, adaptability, and commitment to growth. She has faced personal challenges, including the loss of a close friend to cancer during Covid, yet continues to push forward. Sue remains a vital part of the team, bringing her extensive experience and knowledge to the organisation every day.
