Zenith Shortlisted for Small Commercial Project of the Year at 2015 FeRFA Awards

Zenith Pola Flooring is excited to have been shortlisted for a joint award in the ‘Small Commercial Project of the Year’ category at the forthcoming 2015 FeRFA Awards. The category is open to all projects under 500m2.

Each year, The Resin Flooring Association (FeFRA) rewards/recognises companies demonstrating quality, innovation and best practice within five different categories at their annual AGM and Awards Dinner.

The event will take place at The Belfry Hotel, Sutton Coldfield on Friday 27th November 2015 and will be hosted by guest presenter, Fred MacAulay. Following usual procedure, the black tie awards dinner will take place in the evening after a networking lunch and afternoon of AGM presentations and elections.

Zenith has been shortlisted for a joint award with Sika in the ‘Small Commercial Project’ category for their work on the refurbishment of Ward 10 High Dependency Unit at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, located in Birmingham City Centre.

With limited access and a time frame of just three and a half weeks, the project demonstrates Zenith’s professionalism and ‘can do’ approach. Once the existing floor had been removed, the surface was levelled with a 25mm gypsum-based smoothing compound, pumped up from the ground floor and applied in one hit, due to space constraints, and keeping dust to a minimum given the location of the cancer ward opposite. The gypsum-based screed allowed the team to install ‘unbonded’ on to the existing bitumen adhesive, keeping noise levels to a minimum, and Sika’s coving grade was applied over three days while the gypsum dried.

Rubber shockpad was then layered onto wet adhesive, with Porefiller acting as a grout and sealer, and Sikafloor 330 applied, layered at 2mm, to produce a seamless floor. Finally, two coats of coloured seal produced the required matt finish. As an extra, Zenith designed and installed some fun circular shapes and added a ‘Welcome to Ward 10’ logo at the entrance, finished with one coat of clear matt sealer.

Zenith is looking forward to attending the award ceremony, which offers an opportunity to network with other industry professionals as well as showcasing Zenith’s resin flooring capabilities.
