Case Study: Resin Flooring

Hardwearing epoxy resin flooring for Bromyard Factory

  • Client: Precision Engineering Company
  • Project: Preparation and Application of Resin Flooring
  • Products: Arturo HB Epoxy Resin Coating
  • Area Coverage: 260 Square Metres

Project Description

A precision engineering company that supplies parts to the motor industry recently relocated to a new facility located in Bromyard. The new premises required a total refurbishment and Zenith were approached to offer solutions for the flooring, which needed to be tough, hardwearing, easily maintained and attractively finished.

After consulting with the client to understand the nature of their work and the requirements of the brief, Flooring Business Manager, Dave Cope, specified the Arturo High Build Epoxy Resin coating.

The floor surface, covering 260 m2 was initially prepared using a diamond grinder before the epoxy resin coating was applied, ensuring a floor finish that met the client’s needs and came within budget.

In keeping with Zenith’s usual efficiency and professionalism, the work was carried out on time, as part of the refurbishment programme, with no disruption to the other trades, to the complete satisfaction of the client.

The heavy duty, HB system installed provides increased levels of protection, strengthening and protecting the floor against such stresses as point loading and abrasion. Rather than keep an existing, unprotected concrete floor, which runs the risk of expensive repairs or eventual replacement, the new epoxy resin flooring greatly extends the working life of the floor.

In fact, the resin floor system provides far greater compressive strength than concrete, achieved through its layered composite design structure, which enables the floor to dissipate stress and increase the load-bearing limit of the floor substrate underneath.

Durable and seamless, resin flooring is the only system selected by the HSE that is capable of meeting the performance criteria for working environments, while retaining slip resistance. The easily cleaned floor surface will not harbour bacteria and doesn’t taint. By implementing a regular cleaning regime, its high quality finish can be maintained for many years to come.
