Project Description
In the fast-paced environment of warehousing and logistics, maintaining safety and efficiency is crucial. An international logistics company reached out to Zenith Contract Services to optimise their workspace by enhancing pedestrian walkways, safety crossings, and storage demarcation lines. With the need to maximise space and ensure clear traffic flow, both for pedestrians and vehicles, the task required precision, efficiency, and expert execution.
Project Approach and Planning
The project began with careful planning by our Contracts Manager, Tom Cope, who worked closely with the client to understand their needs and requirements. A comprehensive floor plan was proposed, detailing the layout of walkways, crossings, and storage areas. Upon client approval, the team prepared to execute the plan to perfection.
Surface Preparation
To ensure optimal adhesion of the coatings, the entire 560m² area underwent preparation using a totally enclosed shotblasting system. This method, which is 99% dust-free, effectively cleaned and textured the substrate, removing existing lines and creating a surface suitable for the new coatings. The meticulous preparation set the stage for the flawless application of the epoxy and polyurethane coatings.
Application of Coatings
Precision and attention to detail were paramount during the marking out and masking process, ensuring that the designated areas for walkways, crossings, and storage zones were accurately defined. KDR Epocoat Epoxy Resin Coatings were applied in Lincoln Green, Safety Yellow, and White, creating clear and visually striking demarcations. The final touch was a topcoat of Pumadur DD Gloss Polyurethane, providing a durable and aesthetically pleasing finish.
Outcome
The completed project not only met but exceeded the client’s expectations. The newly coated walkways and safety crossings ensure safe passage for both pedestrians and vehicles, while the vibrant colour scheme enhances visibility and clarity throughout the facility. The fresh, professional appearance of the floor has provided a functional yet appealing backdrop for the client’s operations.
Zenith Contract Services once again demonstrated their expertise in delivering high-quality flooring solutions that meet stringent safety and operational standards. The successful execution of this project highlights our commitment to understanding our clients’ needs and delivering tailored solutions that improve both safety and efficiency in high-traffic environments.
