Refurbishing a fire escape at residential premises
- Client: Residential Property
- Project: Fire Escape Refurbishment
- Commenced: March 2024
Project Description
Zenith Contract Services were tasked with the job of refurbishing an external fire escape at residential premises situated within the Edgbaston area of Birmingham, as part of a major internal and external refurbishment programme.
Working to their usual high standards, the team ensured all the bannisters, treads and risers were thoroughly cleaned using a combination of handheld rotary wire brushes to remove all surface contamination and loose and friable material, and anti-fungal wash.
As recommended by Zenith, the fire escape was painted with two coats of Johnstones Smooth Metal Rust Inhibiting Enamel, with a fine bauxite aggregate introduced to the treads to increase the slip resistant properties.
Martyn Hancox, MD of Zenith Contract Services, said: “The staircase had become a hazard, and preparation was absolutely key to the success of the works. The contract was finished on time and to the complete satisfaction of the client, despite the weather’s best efforts to slow things down.”
This job aptly illustrates the team’s commitment to getting the job done on time, despite the adverse weather conditions, and ensuring a high level of finish and attention to detail. Whatever the nature of the job, from small repair up to full refurbishment, Zenith delivers the same high level of finish, regardless of scale, never compromising on the integrity of the work and ensuring the highest levels of efficiency, professionalism and reliability.
